Asempa
Facilitating Freshness
Asempa means ‘good news’ in Twi, a dialect of the Akan language which is spoken in southern and central Ghana.
Asempa aims to bring ‘good news’ to local farmers in Nkawkaw, Ghana by tackling local food waste issues, starting with post-harvest losses due to insufficient storage facilities. The project will also address the stigma surrounding imperfect produce by delivering educational programs to inform Ghanaian children on proper nourishment, and deliver workshops to farmers to teach them the most effective farming methods.
"Did you know that 45% of fruit and vegetable produce does not make it to the consumers?"
